SAVE: Saving lives through enhanced surgical teams
We provide support to numerous Wellcome Leap programs that aim to deliver breakthroughs in human healthcare on seemingly impossible timelines. One such program, SAVE, aims to double the number of global surgical providers and prevent 1 million postoperative deaths each year.
Led by a program director and supported by an SES SETA, SAVE provides funding to teams of research performers across 21 time zones to develop and validate novel technologies that either advance surgical skill acquisition and assessment or enhance patient monitoring. Many of these performers are already deploying prototype versions of their technologies through the UK-funded Global Surgery Unit. For more information, visit: wellcomeleap.org/save
